Institutional clients can now stake SOL through Jupiter’s validator without moving assets out of BitGo’s regulated custody infrastructure.
BitGo has partnered with Solana-based DeFi platform Jupiter to expand institutional access to SOL staking, allowing clients to earn staking rewards directly through their existing custody accounts.
Announced on October 28, the integration introduces a dedicated Jupiter x BitGo validator, giving institutional investors a way to participate in Solana’s proof-of-stake network without transferring assets to an external staking provider or changing their existing custody arrangements.
The partnership comes as institutional interest in digital assets continues to expand beyond simply holding cryptocurrencies. For firms managing SOL positions, staking offers an opportunity to generate protocol-based rewards while contributing to the security and operation of the Solana network.
Bringing Solana Staking Into Institutional Custody
One of the challenges facing institutional crypto investors is accessing blockchain-native services while maintaining the custody, security, and operational controls required by their organizations.
The Jupiter and BitGo integration addresses this by embedding Jupiter’s validator infrastructure into BitGo’s existing custody and staking workflows. Institutional clients can delegate SOL to the validator while retaining the protections associated with BitGo’s regulated custody platform, including cold storage security, access to up to $250 million in insurance, and bankruptcy-remote protections.
For Jupiter, the partnership also represents an expansion of its role within the Solana ecosystem. Although best known for its decentralized trading services, including token swaps, perpetual futures, and lending, Jupiter also operates validator infrastructure that helps secure the network.
“Most people know Jupiter for swaps, perps, and lending, but none of that works without a network that’s secure and fast underneath it,” said Kash Dhanda, COO of Jupiter. “Running a validator is how we invest in that base layer, and partnering with BitGo brings institutional SOL into it on terms those institutions already trust.”
Institutional Demand for Onchain Yield
The integration highlights a broader shift in how financial institutions approach proof-of-stake cryptocurrencies. Rather than holding tokens solely for price exposure, investors are increasingly looking at ways to put those assets to work within existing institutional infrastructure.
On Solana, staking involves delegating SOL to validators responsible for helping secure the network and process transactions. Participants can receive protocol-generated rewards in exchange, although returns depend on network conditions and validator performance.
For institutional investors, however, participating in staking can introduce additional operational requirements, particularly when assets must be transferred between custody providers and staking platforms.
By integrating Jupiter’s validator directly into BitGo’s infrastructure, the two companies aim to reduce that complexity and make staking more accessible to institutions already holding SOL.
“Staking is an important part of how institutions manage their SOL holdings, and it needs to fit into their existing custody and approval processes,” said Abel Seow, Managing Director, Head of APAC Sales at BitGo.
Expanding Jupiter’s Institutional Reach
The collaboration also strengthens Jupiter’s position as an infrastructure provider within Solana, extending its services beyond retail-focused DeFi applications to institutional network participation.
For BitGo, which provides digital asset custody, trading, staking, and settlement services to institutional clients, the integration adds another staking option within its existing platform.
The Jupiter x BitGo validator is now available to BitGo’s institutional clients, offering an additional route to participate in Solana staking without disrupting their established custody arrangements.
As institutional crypto adoption evolves, integrations of this kind could play a growing role in connecting traditional asset management requirements with blockchain-native financial services.
